How to Connect an LG Air Conditioner to Alexa
Android Device
If you are using an Android device, the following are steps to connect your LG air conditioner to Alexa:
Go to the Google Play Store and search for the LG Smart ThinQ app. Select, download and install the app when you find it; it may go faster if you use a WiFi connection instead of a cellular connection.
Next, open the app and follow the instructions to allow permissions and prompts. Allow the app to access the location of your device. Now, register by creating an account in the app if you do not already have one. But if you do, sign in and add your LG air conditioner type to the app.
Note: You must create a new account to work with the app. Other LG accounts you may have will not work with the app.
To add your air conditioner to the app, go to the top of the page and touch the + sign. It will show the available WiFi networks you can connect to, so switch the mobile data off if it is in use. The next page will have a list of products; choose Air Conditioner and select the type you own: portable, window, split.
Go to your air conditioner and activate the WiFi. You can either press the button directly on the unit or use the remote control. When it connects to WiFi and becomes active, turn on Alexa on your device. The light on it will go from blue to orange. Alexa should greet you when the light is orange.
